How Meditation can help!

I started meditation about 4 weeks ago. I had heard so many people talking about meditation and how beneficial it is for my health and I have always wanted to give it a go so I could understand just what it is about meditation that helps.

All the popular self help guru’s sit and meditate for hours per day (I knew that this was not going to be part of my life). I thought if I can try 5 minutes a day and I will see if it actually does make a difference.

Now I do have three children and a husband so allowing myself 10 minutes of uninterrupted time is pretty hard but this is all a part of meditation to let all the noise just fade away into the background so that is what I did.

I did find that I have become addicted to it and if I miss a couple of days I feel the benefits disappearing.

What I found was the following:

·        Instantly felt peaceful

·        It felt like an internal cleanse of stress

·        I was able to deal with stressful situations a lot better when they presented during the day. My reaction was more “shrug of the shoulders and who cares”

So I absolutely found it helpful and will definitely be sticking to it. Even if I can get 10 minutes in a day that is all I require at this time. 

Give it a go you might be surprised by what you might find. I do prefer to meditate at night time because it just feels like a good way to end the day. I don’t find starting the day with a meditation is helpful as it puts me into a deep relaxation state which I don’t really want to be in at the start of the day trying to get three kids out the door.
